About Panagiotis Tsintavis
My Story
My journey to functional medicine began in 2012, not in a classroom, but through my own health transformation. Like many of my patients today, I had tried multiple approaches but was still struggling with my health.
When I systemically changed my diet and lifestyle, I experienced profound improvements that no medication had ever provided — in my mood, energy levels, and gut health. This wasn’t just symptom management; this was changing the biochemical terrain where illness grows.
That transformation sparked my passion to understand the mechanisms behind healing. But I wasn’t content with surface-level knowledge. I pursued the most rigorous training available, and today I’m the only Dietitian–Nutritionist in Greece certified in Functional Medicine (FMCP) by the Institute for Functional Medicine, the world’s leading training organization in the field.
Today, I help patients worldwide who, like my former self, have been told “your labs are normal” or “there’s nothing more we can do” — yet know something is fundamentally wrong. Through systemic analysis of their biochemical terrain, we look for the underlying patterns and factors that may be contributing to their chronic symptoms.
Reading the Full Pattern in Your Labs
Most patients arrive with years of lab work — blood panels, stool tests, hormone results — that have been reviewed marker by marker, specialist by specialist, and declared “normal.” My signature skill is functional lab analysis: reading every result, across every system, as one picture — and finding the patterns and connections that were missed.
Standard reference ranges are primarily designed to support diagnosis. In functional analysis, we also look at how patterns across multiple markers relate to the way you feel. Think of it as the difference between checking each word’s spelling and reading the whole sentence. A marker can sit comfortably “within range” and still tell a clear story — once you read it next to twenty others.
I hold a certification in Functional Blood Chemistry Analysis and have interpreted thousands of lab panels over 11+ years. It’s why patients — and other practitioners — bring me results no one else could make sense of.
Where Science Meets Ancient Wisdom
My diverse background allows me to see health through multiple lenses. I’ve studied mindfulness, Buddhist psychology, tai chi, biochemistry, systems biology, and epigenetics — creating a unique perspective that few practitioners possess.
“We are not defined by our diagnoses. We are dynamic beings capable of transformation when we address the right biochemical terrain. As the ancient saying goes, ‘one person’s food is another person’s poison.'”
This philosophy drives my systemic approach. When these perspectives unite, breakthrough moments happen.
Proven Results
While credentials provide the foundation, what truly matters is the systemic transformation my patients experience:
- 3000+ Lives Transformed
- 25+ Countries Served
- 11+Years Experience
This happens because we work systemically with the internal biochemical environment that can influence how symptoms develop and persist. When you address the soil, you don’t need to keep pulling weeds.
Serving Patients Worldwide
Based in Athens, Greece, Dr. Varvara Zisimidou and Panagiotis Tsintavis work with patients from more than 25 countries through in-person and remote consultations.
For international patients, remote consultations can offer a practical and consistent way to access ongoing professional support without the need to travel to Athens.
Within her independent medical practice, Dr. Zisimidou provides medical assessment and Internal Medicine evaluation and, where clinically and legally appropriate, diagnosis, treatment, prescribing and follow-up care.
Panagiotis Tsintavis provides clinical nutrition and systems-based Functional Medicine services within his independent dietetic practice.
Depending on the individual case and practitioner involved, care may also include review of existing laboratory findings, consideration or coordination of relevant testing, nutrition and supplement guidance, and ongoing follow-up within each practitioner’s professional scope.
Working Collaboratively
Tsintavis Functional Medicine brings together two independent practitioners: Panagiotis Tsintavis, MSc, RD, FMCP, and Dr. Varvara Zisimidou, MD.
Where appropriate, their different professional perspectives can complement one another, combining clinical nutrition and a systems-based Functional Medicine approach with medical assessment grounded in Internal Medicine.
Each practitioner provides their own professional services independently and within their own professional scope.
